Snow in Baton Rouge

I was going to get a picture of the snow yesterday but my camera is dead and I can't find the charger. We had 5" before 10:00. A weird weather front came across from Texas into Mississippi. The only record that beat that was 12" in 1895. There was still snow everywhere this morning and of course you would never know it this afternoon. We have had snow flurries before but nothing like that. It got down to 32 last night and it's back up to 58 this afternoon. By this weekend it will be in the 70's again. It's amazing we aren't all sick.

I CAN SEE

I finally decided to have lasik and now I CAN SEE. I've been saying for years that I wanted it done and I finally decided it was time to quit putting it off and now I CAN SEE. This is so amazing. After having to wear glasses and contacts for the majority of my life I can now get up in the middle of the night and not have to reach for my glasses cause now I CAN SEE. This is the best money spent. Did I mention that now I CAN SEE.

Mothers

This was sent to me and I thought it was so true. Just a quick note to Mama- 'We love you very much' and could never ask for a better mother.

MOTHERS

Real Mothers don't eat quiche; they don't have time to make it.
Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils are probably in the sandbox.
Real Mothers often have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids.
Real Mothers know that dried play dough doesn't come out of carpets.
Real Mothers don't want to know what the vacuum just sucked up.
Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?' and get their answer when a little
voice says, 'Because I love you best.'
Real Mothers know that a child's growth is not measured by height or years
or grade...It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother...

The Images of Mother
4 YE ARS OF AGE - My Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn't really know quite everything.
14 YEARS OF AGE - Naturally, Mother doesn't know that, either.
16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She's hopelessly old-fashioned.
18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!
25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it!
35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

Halloween 2008

Carly and Jeramy brought Marshall over for Trick or Treat. It was a big treat for me. He loved checking out the other kids and was running all over the place with those cowboy boots. Of course he was a pirate like most of the kids his age. But he was so cute.

Jessie & Jo

Here is a picture of Jim's girlfriend Jo. It's a little blurry but if it was me I'd be glad of that. She is really nice - Carly and I like her alot. And so does Jim

I also got this one of Jessie. Thank goodness he doesn't check out my blog or he might not be to happy.

Getting Big

It sure doesn't take them long to get big. I noticed the other day how Marshall's face is thinning out some. I know it looks like I'm being partial to Marshall but the others aren't here and I can keep up with them on Toni's blog. I'm doing this one so we can keep up with Marshall too.

Most Dangerous Chocolate Cake Recipe

I got this in an email and just had to share.

MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
Coffee Mug
4 tablespoons flour(that's plain flour,not self-rising)
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
Small splash of vanilla
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well . Add the egg and mix thoroughly.Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.Add the chocolate chips (if using)and vanilla, and mix again.Put your mug in the microwave and cook for3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug,but don't be alarmed!Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to share!)

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because nowwe are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day

Hurricane Gustov

This Hurricane hit us harder than any I've been in so far. It really tore up south Louisiana. We were out of work for a week and without power as well. It wouldn't have been so bad getting a week off if we could have been able to do something. The hardest was going to bed when it got dark - what cha gonna do. I lost everything in all my freezers and that was alot. I don't think I'm going to restock. I still have alot of work to do around the yard but it will have to wait. Carly and I did manage to pick up all the BIG stuff.

My Vacation At Toni's

I went to Toni's the week Erin was born to help out. I didn't help all that much. At least I got to see the baby before she started walking. It's going to be rough not being able to see my babies like I did when they were down here.Annie and I planted her a flower garden. And it was surprising that she did most of the work. She loves flowers - mostly pink ones.
This is Erin just a couple of days old. She 2 months old now.

And of course Annie and Benjamin are getting so big. Annie is going to pre-school every day (half days). I remember what that was like -FREEDOM

I'm Back

Well I finally decided to add some more pictures. There has been alot going on around here and I just couldn't find the time. Here's a couple of pictures of Marshall. These were taken in June. Needless to say he's already alot different.

Marshall in the Pool

I filled the pool and put a little swimmer on Marshall and he wouldn't get in the pool. This was an old pool I found in the shed and the bottom had a couple of holes in it. But I figured it would do for a little while. Since he didn't want to go swimming we went inside and changed his cloths and put his shoes back on. We goofed around for a little bit then went back by the pool. He ran straight for the pool and dived in cloths and all. There was about 2 inches in the bottom and he had a ball. Have you ever seen a saturated diaper. That didn't stop him. I don't know if he had so much fun with the water because it was fun or if he knew he wasn't supposed to be in there with his cloths on.

Rainy Day

We had a terrible rain storm last night and this morning. Carly's baby sitter didn't have power this morning so she had to stay home and watch Marshall. This afternoon they called her in and I came come and took over. The sun finaly came out for a little while so I took him outside. The boy loves the mud - Carly is going to go nuts. Those shinny pools of water was like a magnet - he couldn't resist. I did manage to keep him semi clean

April Visit

Toni and the babies came and stayed the later part of April. We had a great time - or at least I did. I really enjoyed the kids. They are getting so big. Annie and I put together some puzzles, and she is really good.
I mad some cream puffs while they were here and Benjamin loved them - or at least the chocolate ones.

Annie liked the vanilla ones.

And I set up the pool too. They at least were able to enjoy that for a few days.

Marhall has figured out the camera

Marshall has discovered the camera. Every time I tried to get a picture he wanted to get right on top of me. He's going to be a ham. I should say he is a ham.

Here's a quilt top I did for mama. I can't get it on the quilter's corner

Here is a video of my sewing room. I have more fabric in another cabinet - maybe I'll put that on later

JR

I found an ad in the paper yesterday and I called Jessie and told him he still owed me an aniversary present, so we went to look at some puppies. I've been wanting another Big Boy since I lost him a couple of years ago. Well I found him. We named him JR since he is now Big Boy Junior.

I came across these pictures on my computer and thought it would be nice to have a picture of Daddy and Mama's parents on here. The only one I have of Mama has me in it so I thought better of posting it.

Marshall on the run

Thought I would share a little of Marshall, He loves it outside - on a constant run. I'm to old for this.

getting started

I decided to try this out and let everyone see what I've been up to. So here goes. Since Toni has a spot that she puts pictures of Annie and Benjamin on it has been great for me tokeep up with them and watch them grow. I have really loved seeing how much they change. I thought I would put some pictures of Marshall (Carly's little boy) out there. Here's one from Christmas - he wasn't very happy.

How about a picture of my latest quilt. You can't see any of the details - that's what makes it such a good quilt.

That's enough to start.
